Hillclimb2003

Just a quick word to highlight the fact that the S&G Climbing team made four trips to the podium at the race. That's pretty impressive for a loosely knit group of nuts that simply enjoy suffering together.

Dianna - 3rd age group and 1st Filly
Jeff Koz - 2nd Clyde
Peter Savage - 2nd age group

Pretty disheartening to see all the worthless attacking and complaining on the forum. If wearing a dress on Saturday night would have helped cheer everyone up, then I'll bring one next year.

As far as safety, those were average weather conditions for Mt W in August. Racers and Officials were prepared properly in my opinion. The summit can only hold so many at a time. The summit house was packed, and riders just kept on crossing the line. It's unfortunate that riders were still climbing as cars were released to go down, but it could have been just as dangerous to keep everyone trapped on the summit for over 3.5 hours.

I sought refuge in an officials car as I did the shoeless-white-out-wander looking for our car alone. As my frost-encrusted feet thawed, I was able to listen to race radio in the car, and you better believe there was constant communication going on about every rider in difficulty still on the course. The officials were in complete control, and on Sunday it was confirmed that there were no serious mishaps. (Did a pooch really blow off the mountain?)

It was awesome to meet everyone. Except Drewlou, or course. He'll have to dream of me for yet another year.
