Hillclimb2003
  Subject: Next time...

If we ever have 60mph crosswinds again and the organizers decide to postpone or shorten the race, I'll be the first to stand up and defend that decision.

In my opinion, the conditions yesterday were dangerous. I lost count of the number of people who were blown off their bikes. One guy was inches from going over the edge.

I sincerely hope that no one got badly hurt. Whether or not anyone did, they could have done. And if they did, help might have been a very long time arriving.

Yeah, I train for this all year. Yes, it would be frustrating not to be able to do the race. And yes, we live in a safety-obsessed country. But in my opinion, yesterday's weather crossed the line.

I hope that if there are others who agree with my assessment, they will say so on this forum. Hopefully, the organizers will keep that in mind for future years.
